Context:
While the success of investigations, judicial fact-finding and trials are more and more frequently closely tied to the pertinence of the material findings, to a judicious choice of scientific and technical investigations, and to the quality of their performance. They are also tied to their complete integration into the coherence of the procedure and the understanding of its results. This session will provide an update of the most significant changes in the area of scientific and forensic evidence.
Pedagogy:
Presentations on DNA, crime scene management, computer expertise, etc. with a comparative view (Great Britain, Switzerland, etc.) and practical work at the IRCGN will permit a common reflection among the judges, gendarme officers, and police superintendents to better identify the place of scientific proof in the penal world.
