The conference is targeted at judges from all jurisdictions, as well as public prosecutors.
The dealing with involved parties from foreign cultural backgrounds in court belongs to the daily practice and challenge. Often, intercultural competence is the prerequisite for fair and efficient shaping of the proceedings. The goal of the conference is to enhance the intercultural skills of the participants. The participants will recall their own cultural heritage and address the theoretical foundations of intercultural communication. Furthermore they will obtain an insight into the impacts of traumatisation on communication. The conference will then examine various other cultural circles. A major focus here will be on the law and culture of Islam. The problems of and with immigrants from Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa will be addressed as well. Conveying theoretical knowledge will be complemented with practical exercises and group work.
