Context:
The quality of penal justice often finds itself subordinated to the quality of forensic medicine whose findings, whether for the cause of death or for forensic medicine of living persons, contributes to the administration of proof and the effectiveness of the accused’s recognized rights.
In this regard, forensic medicine has changed considerably over the last few years due to its overtures to new disciplines due to the increasing importance of scientific proof and greater consideration for the victim in the criminal trial.
Nevertheless, it must be recognized that forensic medicine in France today remains marked by a wide variations in situations and practices.
This session, which brings together judges, police officers and gendarmes, as well as physicians, seeks to survey the most significant changes in forensic medicine, to present the principal recommendations from the Higher Council of Forensic Medicine, to draw lessons from specific cases of complex crime scene management and to best promote aligning related practices in terms of quality.

Numerous presentations from forensic medicine practitioners, including from abroad, and judges will be followed by exchanges among professionals.
