Unprecedented demand for EJTN’s acclaimed language training programme continues

Friday, February 10, 2012

  • EJTN’s applauded language training programme continues in 2012 – with a fourth seminar being added due to demand.
  • The programme produces tangible CDs and handbooks used in the daily work of legal practitioners.
EJTN is proud to announce the continuation of the innovative Language training on the vocabulary of judicial cooperation in criminal matters programme in 2012.

This programme, referred to as the Linguistics seminars, consist of seminars addressing the theoretical and practical sessions of the four basic language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening within a legal terminology context.

By popular demand

Each seminar in 2012 will consist of a 5-day legal English and legal French seminars. Three seminars were initially foreseen during the year with the first one being held 5-9 March in Krakow, Poland.

Quite significantly one extra seminar was added in 2012 – testimony to the programme’s success and popularity.

Under the auspices of the Linguistics project, 146 European magistrates had received training in three seminars in 2011.

Acclaimed, tangible work aids
The project’s seminars each see 50 participants, whom are divided into three English groups and one French group. Each group is trained by two experts: a legal expert and a linguist. The experts, selected from national training institutions, understand the concrete work demands imposed on the judiciary.

After all of the seminars have been held, final training/resource materials are produced. These materials include legal documents and language exercises, which are then compiled onto CDs and handbooks.

The much-applauded resources are used by magistrates in their daily work. Under the guidance of the seminars’ experts, the training materials are designed to be tangible work aids used daily by legal practitioners.

EJTN is very much encouraged by the popularity of the seminars and the highly constructive interaction these proceedings afford.  EJTN also wishes to warmly thank the European Commission for its continued support of this seminar as well as the seminars’ hosting organisations.
