Legal basis for organisation, structure and tasks of Deutsche Richterakademie (German Judical Academy) is the "Administrative Agreement on Deutsche Richterakademie" adopted by the German Federal Government and the Lands of the German Federal Government. Head of Deutsche Richterakademie is a Director residing in Trier.
Since 1973, the Deutsche Richterakademie has been working to further interregional further training of judges from all branches of the justice system, as well as public prosecutors. It is financed jointly by the Federation and the Länder.
The object of the Academy is to provide further training for judges and public prosecutors in their specialist areas, as well as making them aware of political, social, economic and academic developments.
More than 150 further training events are organised each year at the training centres. The Academy employs 28 people at Trier and 29 at Wustrau.
The organisation's budget for 2000 was DM 5.5 million.
